Mrs. Genevieve (Grady) Elliott, wife of the late Walter R. Elliott, Jr., passed away July 30, 2013 at home. Our beloved mother was born in Hartford to Celia (Cullen) and Robert J. Grady on April 28, 1918. A 1936 graduate of Bulkeley High School, Genevieve received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from St. Joseph College. She was employed as a social worker with the City of Hartford and was subsequently employed for twenty-five years by the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services as a Social Worker, Social Worker Supervisor and Fair Hearing Officer, retiring as Chief of the State of Connecticut Information Services. She is survived by her four children, Robert M. Elliott of Deep River, CT Susan Elliott Carroll of Wilmington, MA, John S. Elliott of Wethersfield, CT and David J. Elliott of South Glastonbury ,CT. She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Elliott Tiano. Mrs. Elliott is also survived by seven grandchildren; Krystn Elliott Forcina of Wilmington, MA; Robert M. Elliott, II of Wilmington, MA; Brandt Ryan Elliott of Milton, MA; Jennifer Carroll Hanson of Hanover, MA; Michael Carroll of Wilmington, MA; Benjamin Elliott of Glastonbury, CT and Matthew Tiano of Hebron,CT and nine great-grandchildren. Genevieve was a member of the St. Agnes Guild of Hartford, the Women’s Auxiliary of St. Francis Hospital and Chairman of the original Mothers’ Circle of Corpus Christi Church. She was a Friendly Visitor for the Wethersfield Department of Social Services and delivered Meals on Wheels until the age of 90. In September of 2010, she was class agent for the celebration of her 70th college reunion at St. Joseph College. Genevieve was a devout communicant of Corpus Christi Church. Family and relatives are invited to a private gathering at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield, CT 06109 from 9:30 to 10:30 am, Friday August 2, 2013. All are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, August 2, 2013 in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield CT 06109.
