Obituary for Richard E. Grogan

Richard E.  Grogan
Richard E. Grogan, 74, of White Sands Beach, Old Lyme, formerly of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Luisa B. (Castagna) Grogan, peacefully passed away, Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital. Rich was born in Hartford, July 29,1943, to the late Beatrice (Guyer) DiBella and Edward O. Grogan. Rich was also the stepson to the late Dominic DiBella who had a great influence on his life. He graduated from Bulkeley High School and went on to serve our country in the United States Navy. After his tour in the Navy, Rich returned to Hartford and served the City of Hartford as a Firefighter. He was also a member of the Hartford Fireman’s Benevolent Society and the Hartford Firefighter’s Protective Association.
Along with his wife Luisa, Rich will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his loving family, his three brothers and their spouses, Robert & Mattie Grogan, Stephen and Melanie Grogan, Mark and Nadine DiBella, all of Florida; four sisters and their spouses, Patricia and Robert Whitcomb of Old Lyme, Jean and John Drena of North Carolina, Carol and Rick Logan of Vermont and Barbara and Edward Pitkin of Old Saybrook as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Grogan family Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 4-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Rich’s life will be held Monday, July 9th at 11:00 am in Christ the King Church, 1 McCurdy Rd., Old Lyme, CT 06371. (Attendees are asked to go directly to the church). Following the Mass, Interment will be in Duck River Cemetery, Old Lyme, CT 06371. Memorial donations may be made in Rich’s name to The Salvation Army, 855 Asylum Ave. Hartford, CT 06105 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd. South # 4B, Southington, CT 06489
