Nancy E.  Laing
Nancy E. Laing, of West Hartford, beloved sister, aunt, great aunt and dear friend, peacefully passed away, Saturday, June 04, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital. Nancy was raised in Hartford, daughter of the late Harold F. and Hannah (Landers) Laing and was predeceased by her brother Raymond. She attended Hartford Parochial Schools, graduating from Mount St. Joseph Academy. Nancy was a devout catholic and member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Hartford, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Ladies Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed traveling the world, especially to Ireland. She was employed for more than 42 years with Allstate Insurance Company. Nancy will be dearly missed by her family, her sister Sheila Laing of West Hartford; a sister-in-law, Lucille (Rubera) Laing of East Hartford; a nephew and five nieces, Kevin Laing of Brighton, England, Ellenmary and Joseph Valvo of Wethersfield, Patricia and Thomas Welles, of East Hartford, Susan and Michael Angelo, of Glastonbury, Mary and Paul Dillon of Bray, Ireland, and Paula and Scott Simchock, of Burlington. She was a cherished great aunt to Anna, Laura, Emma, Michael, Bryan, Abigail, Nicholas, Joseph, Hannah, Claudia, Noah and Beatrix and had lifelong friends, Betty Kuehnel, Ruth Mensing, Elaine Grossi, Mary Maher and Catherine Quinn; as well as numerous cousins and godchildren. Friends may call on her family on Thursday June 9, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday June 10, 2016 at 10:00 am in St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave., Hartford (attendees are asked to go directly to the Church). Interment will follow the Mass in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be considered to St. Lawrence O’Toole Church 494 New Britain Ave., Hartford, CT 06106 or St. Francis Hospital, 114 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 06105.
