Obituary for Terence C. "Terry" Sullivan

Terence C. Sullivan, 78, of Bay Head, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Sullivan was born in Perth Amboy, raised in Cape May County, and had been a resident of Bay Head for 35 years. He was a graduate of Wildwood Catholic High School, University of Miami, and Temple University, where he received his Master's Degree. He enjoyed a distinguished career in the Freehold Township Schools, where he served as a Guidance Counselor, and Director of Special Services. He developed the idea of the Resource Room and implemented it, and he had a tremendous impact on the lives of countless students during and after his career. He also developed the six-day class schedule in the Freehold Township Schools. Mr. Sullivan received numerous accolades for his achievements in the education profession. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, a devoted husband, and a friend to many. Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by his sister Barbara.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia D. (nee Dionne), whom he lovingly called Kitten, his brother, Brian Sullivan, of Maine and his nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his in-laws Corinne and Whynn Eliason of Pace, Florida, their children, Lorine and her husband Michael Chambers of York, South Carolina, and John and his wife Tara Eliason, of Potomac, Maryland, as well as by Lorine's children, Grace and Sophie, and John and Tara's children, Stetson, Carsey Jane, and James. Mr. Sullivan was fortunate to have many lifelong friends, and was honored to have been chosen to be the Godfather to several of them.
Funeral services and burial took place privately in Glastonbury, Connecticut on Saturday, November 28, 2015.
