Obituary for Patricia M. Audet

Today is a joyful day because Patricia has been reunited with her family in heaven after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Pat was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Wilfred and Elizabeth (McKeough) Audet, and lived her entire life in the Hartford area. Pat graduated from the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in 1956, and went on to earn her BSN from the University of Connecticut and her MS from Rensseler Polytechnic Institute in 2003. During her long and distinguished career at Hartford Hospital, she was an RN, specializing in pediatrics and went on to become the head nurse in charge of the Pediatric Premature Nursery. She was also a nurse educator in the hospital’s Practical Nurse Education Program (PNEP) and for the State of Connecticut until her retirement. Pat was an active member of the Hartford Hospital Alumnae Association. She started and wrote the Association’s newsletter – “The Pillbox” and wrote extensively on the Association’s history. Pat was a member of both the American Nurses Association and the Connecticut Nurses Association. She was an avid traveler and photographer throughout her life. Pat is survived by her brother-in-law William DeRosa and his wife Lynn; her two nieces Beth Ann Stefanik and her husband Paul, Christine Andrews and her husband John; a nephew William DeRosa Jr. and his wife Kim. She also leaves a great niece Elizabeth Gingrave and her partner Nicholas Haber; a great nephew William F. DeRosa. In addition to her parents Pat was predeceased by her sister Barbara Audet DeRosa. In addition to her family, Pat will be dearly missed by her lifelong friends Carolyn Calhoon, Elizabeth Knight and Marion Miller all of whom brought her much happiness and caring throughout her illness. Pat’s family would like to extend their profound gratitude to the staff at Arden Courts of Avon for all of their kindness, love and care for Pat – especially Tashi, Beryl, Lisa, Roberta, Waleska, Alice, Charmane and Jacki who were a great source of comfort to Pat and made her life so much better. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 3-5pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Pat’s life will be Thursday, October 1st at 10am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Attendees are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow the Mass in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Section 20), 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford.
