world on September 17, 2015.. She survived 82 birthdays! A retired Associate
Professor Emerita at The University of Connecticut, Janet lived in Glastonbury,
Connecticut for many years. Professor Moriarty began her teaching
career at Lauralton Hall Academy in Milford, Ct., and continued in the East
Hartford School system, and West Georgia College (now a university) in
Carrolton. From 1970 until she retired (jubilacion!) in 1997 she enjoyed her
classes for many happy years at the West Hartford Campus of UCONN and taught an
occasional class at the main campus in Storrs. SHE NEVER MET A VERB SHE DIDN’T
LIKE!!!!! Janet attended St. Joseph Cathedral School in Hartford,
Ct., graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy in West Hartford, Ct. and earned her
B. A., M. A., and Ph.D degrees at the University of Connecticut. She also
studied at the University of San Francisco summer session in Valencia, Spain and
did course work at the University of Madrid. She leaves behind her
siblings Timothy and Nancy, Thomas and Deborah, Ted and Katy, and her sister
Judith. Her cousins Joan Cowles, Bob Weiss, John and Lenore Riccio, Richard and
Sherrie Leonard, as well numerous Lagan and Mullen cousins. Very
special in her life was the village of Dunquin, on the Dingle Peninsula in
County Kerry, Ireland. For the many times she spent there she thanks her dear
cousin, JoAnn Lenehan who managed to inspire the Moriarty Clan to visit the
birthplace of their grandfather, Timothy Francis Moriarty. Janet’s
reading favorite, known to all, was Don Quixote.
