Margaret Lucille "Maggie"  Mahar
Margaret “Maggie” Mahar, of Wethersfield, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015. She was born 52 years ago in Syracuse, NY and lived most of her life in Wethersfield, CT. Maggie was a graduate of South Catholic High School and Saint Joseph College. She was a kind and gentle woman who was devoted to her family, friends and Catholic faith. She collected teddy bears, sang in the church choir, cheered for Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics, attended Queen rock concerts, frequented art museums and ballet performances and baked the best gingerbread men cookies at Christmas. Maggie enjoyed running and biking with her friend Buzz White. They shared many good times together, and Maggie’s family is grateful for the compassionate care he administered throughout her illness. The Mahar family would also like to extend their appreciation to her “family” at Future Benefits and to the Masonicare staff for providing loving support to Maggie and her family. Maggie is survived by her father Thomas M. Mahar, her sister Mary Mahar, her brother Brian Mahar and his wife Liz, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother Flora J. Mahar.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 5-7 PM at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday July 31, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St. Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, 1318 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maggie’s name to the Flora McClarnon Mahar Family Endowed Memorial Scholarship, Saint Joseph Academy, 3470 Rocky River Dr., Cleveland, OH 44111.
