Obituary for Alice J. Banning (Call)

Alice Jane (Call) Banning, beloved wife of Irving Banning, of South Newfane, VT, passed away May 21, 2015 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Bennington, NH on January 30, 1935, daughter of the late Theodore and Gertrude (Cody) Call. During World War II, her family moved to Glastonbury, CT, where she and Irving met while attending Glastonbury High School. After graduation and later his return from serving in the Marines, she married Irving, the love of her life. She became a very devoted mother and grandmother who loved and cared for her family unconditionally. Favorite pastimes included cooking, baking, gardening, and sharing her recipes. Alice lived her spirituality daily, inspiring her children and all who knew her. A cherished memory for her was vacationing in Ireland with Irving in their later years. She was an active member of St. Michael’s Parish in Brattleboro VT, attending weekly mass and observing holy days. Besides her husband, Alice leaves four children and their spouses, Kevin and Jan Banning of Clinton, Kathleen and Barry Beeman of Pinehurst, NC, William Banning and Gina Lauzier of Manchester, Linda Krikawa of Bloomfield and eight grandchildren: Alicyn Beeman, William Banning, Jr, Jessica Banning, Margaret Banning, Bruce Lauzier, Evan Lauzier, Katherine Krikawa and Connor Krikawa. She is also survived by a brother and two sisters, Glenn Call and his wife Helene of Worcester, MA, Patricia (Call) Fusco and her husband Thomas of Marlboro, VT, Kathleen Call of Manchester and many beloved nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by two sisters, Constance Botticello and Gertrude Clark; three brothers, Richard, Ronald and Vernon Call and a beloved son-in-law, Thomas Krikawa. Friends may call on the family Thursday May 28, 2015 from 9:30 – 10:30 am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am in St. Augustine Church 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury, CT 06073. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, Hopewell Rd. South Glastonbury, followed by a gathering at 2 Hopewell Restaurant in Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ICU, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, 1 Medical Center Dr, Lebanon, NH 03766.
