Obituary for Kathleen Stack-Culver (Sheehan)

Kathleen Stack-Culver (Sheehan)
Kathleen (Sheehan) Stack-Culver went home to God on February 27, 2015. She was born in Middleton, County Cork, Ireland, the eldest child of the late Thomas and Catherine (Fitzgerald) Sheehan. Growing up in Middleton, she graduated from the Presentation Convent School; and gained local notoriety as an adept knitter from her early teenage years. Her sweaters and cardigans were very sought after in the local area. After leaving school, she worked as a shop’s assistant for John J. O’Brien & Co. in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork. While she enjoyed her time there, she knew there must be more to life, so she emigrated to America in 1950, settling in Hartford with her mother’s family, the Fitzgeralds. Kathleen married Patrick Stack on October 29, 1955 in St. Peter’s Church, Hartford. She raised her family in the southend of Harford, where St. Augustine Parish was an integral part of their lives. Kathleen was dedicated Travelers Insurance employee for 43 years. She was given many awards and recognition for merit and dedication during her career there. Not to be left idle, when she would complete her day at the big “T”, she would then go to her second job at the Hartford Hospital laboratory. Kathleen was never afraid of work. She lost her husband Patrick in 1988 and continued on as the independent woman she was. In 2000 she re-married Dan Culver. Dan treated Kathleen like a queen. They traveled to Ireland on their honeymoon where her Stack in-laws provided them with a beautiful reception luncheon. Kathleen and Dan traveled extensively until Dan took ill. He passed in 2013. She leaves her loving children, Colleen Reavey and her husband Patrick of Colchester, Brendan Stack of Manchester and Sean Stack of St. Mary’s FL and two sisters and a brother, Marie Considine of West Hartford, Frank Sheehan of NM and Antoine Power of Ireland. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Meghan and Michael Reavey of Colchester and Evan and Emma Stack of St. Mary’s FL as well as a host of nieces and nephews in the U.S. Canada and Ireland. Besides her husbands, Kathleen was predeceased by her brothers and sisters; Walter, Paude and Colman Sheehan, Rose Vozzola, Philomena Sheehan, Georgina Regan and daughter in law Sandy Lecis Stack.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday March 3, 2015 in Assumption Church 285 West Center St, Manchester, CT. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
