Obituary for William R. Tangney

William R. Tangney, 54, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Pierrette (Vuoto) Tangney, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, Wednesday January 21, 2015. Bill was born, August 14, 1960 in Hartford, one of six children to Irene (Slamon) Tangney and the late Daniel Tangney. He was raised in Rocky Hill, attended Rocky Hill Schools, graduating from Rocky Hill High, Class of “79”. Bill was a devoted employee of the Rocky Hill Vault Company for over 25 years. He was a people person, with an infectious personality who could make anyone smile. He was an avid pool player and was a member of the American Pool Players Association. Bill will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his loving family, his wife Pierrette; his daughter, Sara Tangney of Wethersfield; his son, Ryan Tangney of Newington, Ryan’s fiancé, Nicole Vargas of West Hartford; his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Tangney of Vernon; four brothers, Daniel Tangney Jr. of Littleton, CO, Thomas “Tom” Tangney and his wife Ann, of Wethersfield, James Tangney of New Britain, and Patrick Tangney and his wife Cynthia (Cyr), of Rocky Hill; as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Tangney family, Sunday January 25, 2015 from 3-6pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Bill’s life will be held Monday, January 26th at 10am in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Attendees are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow the Mass in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Bill’s name to the St. Francis / Mount Sinai Cancer Center, 95 Woodland St. Hartford, CT 06105, saintfrancisdonor.com.
