Obituary for Nancy Grace Shaffer (Heintzelman)

Nancy Grace (Heintzelman) Shaffer, 87, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of the late Robert E. Shaffer, passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 17, 2015 in Hartford Hospital with her family by her side. Nancy was born November 12, 1927 and raised in Ligonier, PA, one of four children to Cyrus D. and Ruby (Ziline) Heintzelman. She and her family resided in Glastonbury since 1963. Prior to retiring, Nancy was employed at Pratt & Whitney for many years. Nancy will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family; three sons, Charles (Randy) Shaffer and his wife Lauree, of Billings, MT, William R. Shaffer of Glastonbury, and David R. Shaffer and his wife Maureen, of Hebron; as well as her three adored grandchildren, Michael, Mark & Melinda Shaffer and her brother, William Heintzelman and his wife Nancy of Ligonier, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was predeceased by her sister Louise Gaylor and a brother H Ray Heintzelman. The Shaffer’s wish to extend their deepest appreciation to Nancy’s caregiver, Tetanya Voytenko, for the wonderful care and compassion she provided to Nancy. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 5-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury. Nancy will be laid to rest at a later date in Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Cemetery, Donegal, PA. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Highway, 2nd Floor, Rocky Hill, Connecticut, 06067.
