Obituary for George F. Lord

George F.  Lord
George Francis Lord, 97, of Hartford, beloved husband of the late Loretta (Bergeron) Lord, died peacefully at St Francis Hospital on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Born in Lowell, MA, January 23, 1917, son of the late Napoleon and Emily (Aubut) Lord, he and his family moved to the Frog Hollow section of Hartford in 1926 and was a lifelong resident of Hartford. George graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1935 and went on to graduate from Prince Tech and become a skilled machinist. During WW II, he was employed by the Department of Defense and later served overseas in the US Army during the Occupation of Japan. Prior to his retirement in 1982, George worked as a Machinist with the Chandler Evans Company. He leaves his three sons, Paul Lord and his wife Nancy of Wethersfield, Richard Lord and Gerard Lord, who was the caretaker of his mother and father for many years, both of Hartford, his five loving grandchildren, Justin Lord and his wife Katie of Wethersfield, Michael Lord of Wethersfield, Amy Lord of Cromwell, Kenneth Lord of FL. and Eric Lord and his wife Wynne of Southington, as well as his great grandchildren Jocelyn Lord of Wethersfield, Lauren Schmitt of Cromwell, and Elijah, Kian and Maia Lord of Southington. He also leaves a sister-in-law Diane Bergeron of New Bedford, MA and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Loretta, George was predeceased by his oldest son Robert Lord , his brother Albert Lord and his wife Theresa , and his sister Gilberte Lord. George was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. Our “Pepere’s” peaceful nature and infectious smile will be sorely missed.
Friends and relatives may call at the Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield, CT on Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 5-8pm. The funeral will be held Monday December 15, 2014 at 9:15 from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St. Wethersfield, CT..
