Obituary for Virginia Grayce Hennessey (Lowry)

Virginia Grayce (Lowry) Hennessey passed away peacefully on October 17, 2014 at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Home, Shawnee, Kansas. Although her final home was Kansas, she was a lifelong resident of the Hartford Ct area and lived in Vernon for over 30 years. Born in Hartford in 1922, she was one of 7 children of Edmund and Grace Lowry. She was a graduate of the Hartford public school system including Hartford Public High School. She met her beloved husband, Richard, in the years just before World War II, and their wedding date occurred the day Japan surrendered. Richard was an Air Force officer and she lived with him in Post War Germany as well as several stations in the United States always and finally returning their home state of Connecticut. Their marriage lasted for over 45 years. Richard passed away in 1989 and she will now join him in eternity. Her family will always treasure her love and devotion. Her nurture and kindness will be remembered lovingly. She is survived by her 3 children, Richard, Jr. of Pasadena, Ca, Bertina Thau and her husband Claude of Shawnee, Kansas, and Leighanne Pierro of Vernon, Ct and her sister, June Lowry, of the Miami, Florida area. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren; Jonathan and Garrett Hennessey of Los Angeles, Ca., Brian Hennessey of Lakewood, Ohio, Andrew Thau of New York City, Tracy Foster of Kansas City, and Ryan, Joseph, and Ashleigh Pierro of Manchester, Ct. Her 7 great grandchildren will cherish her memory and legacy forever. Friends may call Saturday November 8, 2014 from 9:30-10:30 am at the Farley - Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave, Glastonbury, Ct, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, November 8, 2014 in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main Street, Glastonbury, CT Following the service, final interment will be at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road Bloomfield, Ct.
