Obituary for Juan Ortiz

Juan Ortiz
Juan Ortiz, 83, of Hartford, husband of Guillermina (Martinez) Ortiz, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at his home. Son of the late Antonia Sanchez and Lomgino Ortiz, he was born December 16, 1930 in Barranquita, Puerto Rico. Prior to his retirement he worked for 10 years for the State of Connecticut. Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Juan Ortiz Jr. and his wife Teresa of East Hartford, Maria C. Ortiz Robles of Cidra, P.R., Maria E. Ortiz of Vernon, Carlos Ortiz and his wife Lizette of Hartford, Luldes Ortiz of South Windsor, Lydia Agosto and her husband Angel of Hartford, Gladys Leftwich and her husband Arvid of Hartford, David Ortiz of Hartford and Jo-Anne Ortiz of Hartford. Juan also leaves his sisters, Pilar Sanchez and Ana Martinez both of Aibonito, Puerto Rico, and his dearest friend Hector Hernandez of Hartford, as well as 24 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Juan was also predeceased by his brother, Justino Ortiz. A special thanks to all those who provided care for Juan. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 27, from 5-8pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. A funeral procession will begin on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 9am from the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Michael Church, 7 Clark St. Hartford.
