Helen J.  Tyskwicz (Szubinski)
Helen J. (Szubinski) Tyskwicz, 95, wife of the late Benjamin Tyskwicz of Hartford, passed away peacefully Tuesday June 24, 2014 in Avery Heights. She was born in Bridgeport, daughter of the late John and Anna (Gwozdz) Szubinski and lived in the Hartford area most of her life. Helen had a love of fashion and jewelry which led to a long career in retail at G. Fox & Co. She also loved to travel with her children and enjoyed dining out. Helen also liked beans and vinegar, pastry and her special sandwich of liverwurst and Russian dressing. Through her later years, she enjoyed listening daily to the wonderful music on WJMJ radio and Father John Gatzek and her favorite TV show, Curious George. She is survived by a daughter, Gail (Tyskwicz) Laferriere and her husband Andre of Old Saybrook and her loving and caring son William W. Tyskwicz of Hartford her sister-in-law Shirley Szubinski and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Steven Tyskwicz and a brother Joseph Szubinski. Special thanks for the compassion shown by her home caregiver Ewa and the staff at Avery Heights for her care and well being. Friends may call from 3-5 PM Sunday June 29, 2014 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. The funeral will be held Monday June 30, 2014 at 9:00 from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in SS Cyril & Methodius Church 63 Popieluszko CT, Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave. Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Masonicare Partners Home Health and Hospice, 111 Founders Pl., East Hartford, CT 06108.
