Obituary for Michael P. Rogala

Michael P. Rogala, 94, husband of Alice B. Rogala of Hartford, passed away January 2, 2019 in Avery Heights. He was born Chmielnik, Poland on August 29, 1924. At age 14, he was sent to a labor camp in Germany through WWII. Michael came to America in 1950, on his birthday and worked on a farm on Long Island. He then moved to New Britain and then after marrying Alice settled in Hartford. He worked at Royal Typewriter for a while before working as a machinist for Hanson Whitney Tool Grinder for over 37 years. Michael was a hard worker, spending time working around the house and yard. He was an avid soccer fan and played both in Poland and for the New Britain Soccer Team. Michael was a longtime member of the Polish Cultural Club of Greater Hartford.
Besides his wife Alice, he leaves his son John Rogala of Hartford, his daughter Kricia Buckheit and her husband John of PA, four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Hunter and Samantha, as well as his nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Michael’s life will be held Wednesday January 9, 2019 at 10:00 AM in SS Cyril and Methodius Church 63 Popieluszko Court, Hartford. There will be no calling hours. To extend condolences, please visit Farleysullivan.com.
