Obituary

George A. Shea, 86, of Wethersfield, peacefully passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side. George was born October 25, 1932 in Buffalo, NY, son of the late George and Bertha (Titus) Shea. The family moved to Hartford, where George attended Hartford Schools, graduating from Bulkeley High School, Class of 1951. He continued his education at UCONN until entering the military. He served in the United States Army in the Presidential Honor Guard, at Arlington National Cemetery during the Korean Conflict.
George worked construction for many years as an ironworker, who worked on the famous Phoenix “Boat” Building in downtown Hartford.
He wrote two books, of which he was very proud, “Libbie Custer is free” and “America’s Patriotic Poems and Prose”. He had a great love of animals, especially dogs, which he had his entire life.
George will be deeply missed and remembered by his loving family, his two sisters, Arlene Shea of Wethersfield and Mary Ann Bezdelovs of Rocky Hill; nieces and nephews, Kathy Cavallero (Gavie), Ted Stoneburner, Gary Gipstein (Karen), Laurie Marotto (Tom), John Bezdelovs, Tracey Barlow (Cinqué) and Dan Bezdelovs (Kim), as well as many great nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 9:00 – 10:00am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30am in Corpus Christi Church of Christ the King Parish, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Interment (with full military honors) will follow the Mass in St. Catherine Cemetery, Rye St., Broad Brook. May the Family know that he is safe in Gods memory awaiting for the time when He will instruct His dear Son, Jesus Christ to fulfill the words he had spoken in John 5:28,29 about which he is saying: Do not be amazed at this in which all those in the memorial tombs " Or in Gods memory"will hear his " Jesus Christ" voice and come out, to a resurrection to life. So may these words bring some comfort in the coming days and know that he will also be able to live, once brought back, on this earth forever, just as the Bible says in Psalm 37:29. So go to JW.org to find more comforting promises of God about the future.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends. Although nothing can take the pain away may the words from our peaceful creator bring you comfort Revelation 21:4 -"And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
