Anita (Kusio) Szahaj, 63, beloved wife of Zenon “Z” Szahaj for 29 years, lost her battle with gastric cancer on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Hartford Hospital.
Anita was born in New York City and grew up in Granby, CT, graduating from Granby Memorial High School. She was employed by GKN Aerospace in Newington. Anita was the daughter of Myroslawa (Fedyk) Kusio and the late Theodore Kusio. Anita leaves behind her adored children, Michael of Bloomfield and Melanie (Lonnie) of Newington, dear brother Ted and his wife Kate of Minneapolis. Anita was pre-deceased by her sisters, Susan Kate Kusio and Helen Kusio.
Anita loved being with her family and always made sure that they got together at least once a week. She also took great care of her mother. She was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church and a former member of the choir and Ukrainian National Women’s League. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Friends may call TONIGHT, December 26, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. A Panachyda Service will take place at 7:00 pm. The Requiem Liturgy will be held on Thursday December 27, 2018 at 10:30 am in St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 Wethersfield Avenue, Hartford. All attendees are asked to go directly to church.
