Obituary for Patricia Droney (Hussey)
Patricia H. Droney, 83, of West Hartford, CT, passed away peacefully, Friday, December 14, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Patricia (Pat) was born to the late Jack and Pauline (Broughton) Hussey on May 31, 1935 in Hartford, CT. She was a proud graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy in West Hartford (class of ’53) and loved the many friends she made there. She married John Droney on October 7, 1961. She chose that date because it is the Feast Day of the Holy Family and, as a devout Catholic, she prayed that the Holy Family would bless and guide them in their new life together. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this past October.
Pat is survived by her husband, John Droney, son John Droney of West Hartford, daughter Ann Marie David and husband Perry of West Hartford, son Thomas Droney and wife Kathleen, son Steven Droney and partner Ruth Barbour. Pat also leaves her four grandchildren, Áine and Teagan Droney, Caitlin David, and Deaglan Droney. She is also survived by her brother, Jack and wife Peggy, her brother-in-law Francis Droney, brother-in law Chris Droney and his wife Margaret of County Clare, Ireland, her first cousin and godchild Ann Eldridge (LaSata) and many other cousins and friends.
Pat was very proud of her Irish heritage and was a life member of the Irish American Home Society in Glastonbury CT. She spent countless hours there volunteering and spending time with family and friends.
Her family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at St. Francis Hospital, especially cardiac ICU nurses, Brianna, Kim, Lauren, Lizzy and Mike, who provided excellent care and great kindness to Pat and kept her comfortable to the end.
Calling hours will be Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford CT. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford CT. Attendees are asked to go directly to the Church.
