Obituary for Terrence L. Brazel

Terrance L. Brazel, husband of Sandra (Carter) Brazel, of Wethersfield, passed away December 11, 2018 in Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born in Hartford, son of the late John R. and Bertha (Schellenberger) Brazel and lived in Wethersfield his entire life. Terry was a graduate of Suffield Academy and was proud of leaving as the only undefeated golfer in 3 years of competition. He served for 6 years as a member of the Army Reserves and joined his father in the J.R. Brazel Co., and succeeded him as the owner until his retirement. The company began in Hartford on Elm St. and Terry moved it twice due to expanding needs. He was a passionate and talented golfer. Terry was a lifetime member of Wethersfield Country Club and he played in countless tournaments in numerous states. He carried a 1 handicap for many years. He was the golfer who, at age 14, posed for the cover of the first Insurance City Open (later the GHO) program in 1952. He and Sandy loved to travel, visiting places like Africa, Montana and Scotland. It was on a trip to Scotland that he played St. Andrews and all the other storied courses. Most of all, Terry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He would take his grandchildren on what would be known as “Pada’s adventures”.
Besides his wife, Terry will be greatly missed by his son John R. Brazel, II, of North Carolina, his daughter, Michelle and her husband David Moquin, of Wethersfield and his grandchildren, Courtney and Victoria Brazel and Jacqueline and Sean Moquin, He was predeceased by a grandson, Ian Moquin.
The family would like to extend much appreciation to Dr. Peter Schauer and the nursing staff at the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center for their devoted care.
