John Anthony Wadding, 68 of Wethersfield, formerly of East Hartford, beloved husband, partner and best friend (for over 30 years) to Pamela “Pam” (Ferrara) Wadding, peacefully passed away early Friday morning, November 30, 2018 at home. John fought a long, hard and courageous battle with cancer and never let it get the best of him. He was born in Hartford, May 28, 1950, son to the late Carl and Lucy (DelCiampo) Wadding. He was raised in East Hartford, where he graduated from Penny High School. After graduation, John served our country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from the war, John took a job as a salesman with Hutchinson Motors of Hartford. He found his passion in the automobile business which he continued working for over 40 years. Having the gift of gab and a love of cars, is what made John the excellent salesman he was. John loved to travel to Florida to visit is old and dear friend, the late Sylvia Hutchinson. When he was a little boy, while driving with his father, John spied a Chevy Corvette which led to his love of that particular car even though his father told him, “you’ll never own one of those”. John proved him wrong, he not only owned one, but several, some of which he restored himself, two of which he has and cherishes to this day. He was a true, genuine person with a heart of gold.
Along with his wife Pam, John will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his daughter Dawn Wadding; his three adored grandchildren, Juliana, Jonathan and Jacob, all of Portland; a sister, Carol Wadding Lemieux of Bristol; extended family; and a host of close and dear friends.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 11am – 1pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield with a Life Celebration Service at 1pm in the funeral home with the Pastor Nicole Burris officiating. Interment will be private.
