Obituary for Dorothy Williams (Discenza)

Dorothy (Discenza) Williams, 83, of Rocky Hill, former longtime Wethersfield resident, wife of the late William Ryan and Robert T. Williams, peacefully passed away Friday October 26, 2018 at the Atrium in Rocky Hill. Dorothy was born January 7, 1935 and raised in Hartford, daughter to the late William and Dorothy (Havens) Discenza. She attended St. Augustine School Hartford, Burr School, and graduated from Bulkeley High School. Being an excellent student and having a passion to be a teacher, Dorothy continued her education earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from UCONN.
Prior to her retirement, Dorothy was a teacher for the Newington Board of Education for many years. She was very generous with her time and devoted to her students, which went beyond just being their teacher, but a mentor and dear friend as well. She would host parties for the children and teachers. During World War II, Dorothy was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. She was very outgoing, with the ability to make friends wherever she went. Dorothy loved to travel, some of her destinations included China, England, Ireland and a time share in Mexico.
Dorothy will be dearly missed and remembered by numerous friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Dorothy’s life will be Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:00 am in St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. Interment will follow the Mass in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Section 29), 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford. There will be no calling hours.
