Obituary for Debra S. "Deb" Mockalis (Barnes)

Debra S. “Deb” Mockalis, 68, of Wethersfield, formerly of Windsor Locks, loving wife of the late Hugh James “Jim” Mockalis, peacefully passed away at home, Saturday, June 16, 2018. Deb was born May 26, 1950 and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, daughter to the late Irvin “Rudy” and Barbara Barnes. She relocated with her family to CT 37 years ago, residing in the Hartford area. Deb worked most her life for AT&T (SNET, SBC), retiring early to care for her mother. She continued working part-time during her retirement at Avid Marketing Group and Trinity College. She had many wonderful attributes – her warm smile could light up a room. She was an amazing mother to her children - always putting them first – as well as a great friend and listener. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially up at the camp in Maine. Deb was kind-hearted, loved deeply and was loved in return by all those whose lives she touched. She enjoyed bird watching, movie-watching and music of all kinds. She is guided to heaven by her beloved turtles (her spiritual animal) on World Sea Turtle Day, of all days.
Deb will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, three daughters, Donna Champion Rich, DeAnna Drapeau and her husband Guy and Ana Derby; a son, Rigo Mockalis; a sister Lynda Alexander and her husband Morey; nine adored grandchildren, Marky, Libby, Jackson, Ryleigh, Diego, Ania, Jazmin, Harmony and Niina; two cherished great grandchildren Kimmy and James; two nephews, Morey and his wife Kristin, Matthew and his wife, Jen; two great nieces, Samantha and Madeline; and one great nephew, Nicholas.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, Thursday, June 21, 4-6 pm at which time a Memorial Service will take place, followed by a celebration of her life.
