Marguerita C. Rafala (Cavalieri)
Marguerita (Cavalieri) Rafala, 88, formerly of Hartford, where she was born and resided for most of her life, was gently and peacefully taken into the heavenly realms of God’s Kingdom on February 3, 2018. She was a daughter of the late Paul and Pauline (Connata) Cavalieri.
Marguerita was a stay at home mother who devotedly raised 10 children. She was a strong woman who was a second mom to many in the neighborhood. A first generation American, Marguerita was proud of her Italian heritage and had unwavering faith. She was a past President of the St. Augustine Church Women’s Club, a member of the Rosary Society and a Eucharistic Minister. Marguerita was also a member of the Democratic Club of Hartford and she loved cake decorating, making many beautiful wedding cakes.
Marguerita will be lovingly remembered by her children, Paula McKone and her husband William of NH, Louise Manning of FL, Michael Rafala and his wife Dora of VA, Anthony Rafala and his wife Christina of Glastonbury, Peter Rafala and his wife Lura of Colchester, Maria Grider and her husband Robert of Berlin, Rosann Rafala and her wife Kelly Voss of East Haddam and Stephen Rafala and his wife Paula of CA. Marguerita also leaves her two older sisters, Lea Buchanan and Francesca Cavalieri, her husband Joseph Rafala, Sr., 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Kevin Rafala and Joseph Rafala II, a daughter Rita Rafala and her sister Mary Lantieri.
The family would like to express special thanks for the kindness and care she received by the staff of Apple Rehab in Colchester, where she resided the last year of her life.
