Emilia B. Cardoso (Batista)
Emilia (Batista) Cardoso, 89 of Wethersfield, beloved wife of the late Jose Faria Cardoso, peacefully passed away, Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Hartford Hospital. Emilia was born January 3, 1929 in Brazil, at which time her family moved back to Portugal where she was raised. She and Jose were married in Portugal, emigrated to America in 1960, residing in Hartford where they raised their family. They moved to Wethersfield in 1977. Prior to her retirement, Emilia was employed for many years at Mount Sinai Hospital. Her greatest joys in life was spending time with her family and gardening. Emilia will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family, a son and daughter-in-law, Alvaro J. and Helena Cardoso of Wethersfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Gracinda and Nelson Diorio of Newington; a sister Teresa Fernandes of Wethersfield; three adored grandchildren, Nicholas Cardoso and his wife Jandiz, in California; Jareth Cardoso in North Carolina and Tiffany Diorio in New York, NY; and two cherished great grandchildren, Xavier and Kanoa Cardoso in California. Emilia was predeceased by her siblings in Portugal. The Cardoso family extends their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of The Atrium in Rocky Hill.
Friends and family may pay their respects to Emilia and the family, Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 4-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Emilia’s life will be Monday, January 8th at 10am in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Square, Hartford (attendees are asked to go directly to the Church). Interment will follow the Mass in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Section 27), 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford.
