Obituary for Nadia Panachyd (Chechkevich)

Nadia (Chechkevich) Panachyd, 90, of Hartford, wife of the late Illya Panachyd, peacefully passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017. Nadia was born, October 17, 1926 and raised in Ukraine. She and Illya immigrated to the United States with their two boys in 1951, settling in Hartford. Nadia devoted her life to her family and excelled at the most important job of being a mother to her two boys. She and her family were faithful communicants of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Hartford. Nadia will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her son Julian Panachyd of Hartford, CT and Brooklyn, NY; in addition to many dear friends. Along with her husband Illya, Nadia was predeceased by a son Jack Panachyd and other family members. Friends and relatives may pay their respects Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 5-7 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield with a Panachyda service being celebrated at 6:30pm. A Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrating Nadia’s life will be Wednesday, October 11th at 10am in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 Wethersfield Ave. Hartford with the Very Reverend Pawlo Martyniuk officiating. Interment will follow the liturgy in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, New London Tpke, Glastonbury. The family requests memorial donations to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic School, 125 Wethersfield Ave. Hartford, CT 06114 in lieu of flowers.
