Obituary for Annette White (Nickle)

Annette (Nickle) White, 91 wife of the late Edward J. White, of Rocky Hill, passed away April 11, 2017. She was born in Middletown, on March 19, 1926, daughter of the late Howard E. and Mary (Barker) Nickle. Annette was a graduate of Portland High School, Class of 1944. She was employed as a secretary in the Personnel Department of the Travelers until 1957 and was also the Secretary of the Travelers Girls Club. In 1969, Annette was employed as a secretary to the Superintendent of Schools at the Board of Education of Rocky Hill until her retirement in 1992. After her retirement, Annette continued her employment with the Board part-time for many years. She was a member of St. James Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Annette was also a volunteer for Mercy Knoll in West Hartford and participated in a Rosary Group every Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Seton Church. She was a member of the Irish American Home Society and a longtime member of the Rocky Hill St. Patrick Day Parade Committee. Mom had a beautiful, kind, caring and generous spirit. Annette is survived by her cherished children, Kevin T. White, his wife Diane and their children Michael and Jeffrey of Tolland, Brian P. White of Middletown, John D. White of Rocky Hill, and Patrice (White) Modeen and her husband Vaughn of South Windsor. She also leaves a nephew Welton Maynard and his wife Phyllis of Montgomery, AL. Besides her parents and husband, Annette was predeceased by her sister Roberta Nickle and sisters-in-law Claire White of Portland and Mary Maynard of AL. and her best friend of over 50 years, Evelyn Moriarty. Friends may call on Monday April 17, 2017 from 9:30-10:30 am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am in St. James Church, 767 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill.
