Maria Vazquez, 76 of Hartford, beloved wife of Bill Gutierrez, passed away with peace and grace on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at St. Mary Home, West Hartford, with her loving family by her side. Maria was born January 14, 1940 in Comerio, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Mercedes Baez and Lutgarda Rivera. She lived in Hartford for most of her life where she worked for Bank of America prior to her retirement. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend, whose greatest passion in life was assisting others. Along with her husband Bill, Maria will be dearly missed by her loving family, her son and daughter in law, Alberto “Al” and Janice Vazquez of Hartford; two daughters and a son in law Janette and Mitchell Llorens of Wethersfield, Ginny “Liz” Wier of Manchester; eight adored grandchildren, Mel, Mark and Megan Vazquez, Rachel and Mitchell Llorens, Kory, Kaleb and Korbin Wier; brother and sister in law Orlando and Teresa Baez; her sister Norma Baez, all in Puerto Rico; as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends. The Vazquez family wishes to thank the staff at St. Mary Home, West Hartford and Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice for all their care and support. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family Friday, December 9, 2016 from 5-8pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Maria’s life will be held Saturday, December 10th at 10am in Our Lady of Sorrow Church, 79 New Park Ave., Hartford (attendees are asked to go directly to the church). Interment will follow the Mass in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery (Shrine of the Apostles Section), 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s’ Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
