Obituary for Helen C. "Nana" Niemczyk (Roach)

Helen C. “Nana” (Roach) Niemczyk peacefully passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 surrounded by family at the age of 90. Helen was born January 12, 1925 and raised in Hartford, the daughter of the late William J. and Delia (Monahan) Roach. In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband Julian Robert Niemczyk; her daughter AnnMarie DiBiasi; all her siblings, William Roach, John Roach and his wife Agnes, Mary Neiman and her husband Edward, Katherine Beaulieu and her husband Lawrence; and her sister-in-laws Carol and Mildred Niemczyk.
Helen was married the love of her life Julian Robert Niemczyk, her husband of 19 years prior to his passing away in 1967. She continued to raise her three daughters with the help of her family and friends. Helen leaves behind her loving family; two daughters, Joanne McPhee and her husband Jeffrey “Jeff” of Wethersfield, Patricia Pawlik and her husband Henry “Hank”, of Terryville; her 6 grandchildren Jason Pawlik and his wife Angela, Matthew Pawlik and his wife Laurie, Heath DiBiasi and his wife Sylvia, Adam Pawlik and his wife Moira, Jennifer Coleman and her husband Jordan, and Jeremy McPhee; her six great grandchildren, Tessa, Olivia, Amelia, Trevor, Max and Sofia; many nieces and nephews, as well as her extended family and dear friends. Family and friends were Helen’s love and joy. Prior to her retirement, Helen had worked at G. Fox in Hartford for 38 years. She then assumed her most important and favorite job, that of being a full time “Nana”. Nana loved to have fun; she had a heart of gold. She loved visiting with her friends, spending time with her family, as well as traveling and spending each day with Joanne and her family. Now at peace with all of her family who has gone before her, Nana’s memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. A most heartfelt thank you from the family goes out to the home health aides from Companions Forever and the ICU and seventh floor nursing staff at Saint Francis Hospital for the wonderful care they provided to Helen during her time of need. Friends and relatives may call on the family, Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 4-8 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. The funeral procession will commence Friday, December 4th at 9 am at Farley-Sullivan, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Helen’s life at 10 am in Sacred Heart Church, 56 Hartford Ave., Wethersfield. Interment will follow the Mass in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery (Section K), 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. The family suggests that memorial donations be made in Helen’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
