Obituary for Roberta Eaton (Chase)

Roberta Chase Eaton died Saturday, four weeks short of her 100th birthday. She was born in Harwich, Mass., the daughter of Hester Blatchford Chase and Robert Walker Chase. She went to school and worked in New York and Boston before moving to West Hartford in 1941. She had lived in Wethersfield since 1944 and was active in helping seniors, playing bridge, travelling and visiting with family, friends and neighbors. She was married to Tom Eaton, long-time news director at WTIC and Channel 3, for 32 years until their divorce in 1971. She is survived by her three children, Robert Eaton of Pacific Palisades, CA; Janet Walker of Hendersonville, NC; and Howard Eaton of Kissimmee, FL. She also leaves five grandchildren and five great-children who will miss visiting her, her smile, her jello and her cookies.
A celebration of her life will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on October 24, 2014 at her home.
Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in West Harwich, MA. Gifts in her name may be made to Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation of Bloomfield, CT., or to Jefferson House, Newington, CT., for their library to purchase large print books and puzzles.
