Obituary for Annette Griffin Mikan
Annette Griffin Mikan, 65, passed away on Tuesday August 14th after almost a year long journey with cancer. Her family was at her side when she passed at home. Annette was born October 31st, 1952 at Hartford Hospital, a Halloween baby and a lifelong resident of South Windsor, CT. She attended the local South Windsor schools, graduated high school from The MacDuffie School in Granby, MA, and received her associate’s degree from Manchester Community College. Annette was well known in the greater Hartford area for her long career in real estate and later a successful career as a Bailbonds Agent.
Annette was devoted to her mother Fay Kincaid, and to her late father James Monroe Matthews who predeceased her. Annette was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and friend to many. She loved spending time with and hosting family and friends at the Connecticut shore. Gardening, antiquing and making heirloom family cookies were always enjoyed. She had a winning smile, a warming laugh and could be witty and charming. She appreciated the same qualities in the people she was fondest of.
Annette will be greatly missed by her son Schaefer Harrison Griffin and his three children Scotland Fay, Mazie Grace and Schaefer John Robert, her daughter Brooke Monroe Ligeti and husband Robert, her mother Fay Ritter Kincaid, her brother John Matthews, wife Lynda, and his three children John, Tina, and Andrew; many nieces, especially Robin Denyer, nephews, aunts and uncles, especially Levonne and Joann Matthews, , cousins, stepchildren, step grandchildren, colleagues and friends all feel the loss of Annette Griffin Mikan. Her husband and soulmate Philip Mikan will always have her in his heart always.
A memorial will be held to celebrate and honor Annette on Friday the 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the Rockville Church of Nazarene on 47 East Street, Vernon CT. The Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Wethersfield has care of the arrangements. To extend online condolences, please visit Farleysullivan.com.
