Obituary for Patricia Marie Mahoney (Sheridan)

Patricia "Patti" (Sheridan) Mahoney of South Glastonbury, 65, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2018 with her family by her side after battling early-onset Alzheimer's disease. She was born on March 17, 1953 at Hartford Hospital to the late John and Jane Sheridan. She grew up in Glastonbury, and attended Buttonball Lane Elementary, Gideon Welles Junior High, and Glastonbury High School, graduating in 1971. She had a passion for helping the disabled and senior population, first working as a home health aide and later attended Manchester Community College where she studied therapeutic recreation and gerontology. That led to an over 30-year career as a Therapeutic Recreation Director, and she worked for a variety of skilled nursing facilities, retirement communities, assisted living, and adult day centers. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 44 years Dennis Mahoney of South Glastonbury, a daughter Erin Mahoney and her partner Dan Babella of Bristol, a son Brian Mahoney, daughter-in-law Melissa Mahoney, and their sons Wyatt and Wesley, all of Glastonbury, a sister Joan Andrews of Collinsville, a sister Barbara Ruszkowski of Milford, and is predeceased by her sister Elaine Michaud of Maine. She also leaves behind many friends, nephews, and cousins. Patricia was an extremely vivacious and warm woman who touched many lives both personally and professionally. She was naturally artistic and enjoyed gardening, reading, attending Neil Young concerts and bird watching with her husband Dennis, and loved to travel, especially to Southern California, Bar Harbor Maine, British Virgin Islands, and bed & breakfasts throughout New England. She also loved her dogs Mickey and Sampson and her late dog Oscar. She had a special relationship with her daughter Erin and they loved watching movies and just spending time talking and laughing together. She also loved hiking with her son Brian and spending time with her grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 5-7 pm at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home located at 50 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury, CT.
