Obituary for Anita M. Pensiero

Anita M. Pensiero (1937 – 2018) Anita Marie Pensiero, 80, of Glastonbury died April 26, 2018, at Brookdale Mountain Laurel after a long illness. Born in Hartford in 1937, Anita was a long-time resident of Glastonbury. Anita was a 1955 honors graduate of Bulkeley High School, where she was the proud recipient of the Grace Garvin award for outstanding senior girl. She was also voted classmate with best character and best personality, traits that Anita exemplified throughout her life. Anita graduated from Hartford College for Women in 1957 and St. Joseph College of West Hartford in 1960, with honors in mathematics. Anita started her career as a stock analyst at Equitable Securities in Hartford. She soon entered the data processing field at Travelers Insurance where she was a systems manager until medical issues forced her to retire at age 50. Despite her many serious illnesses, Anita was outgoing, positive and good-natured, always quick with humor and an eye to helping others. She loved music, playing piano, gardening, cooking, and travel, with more recent travels limited to Cape Cod and Newport. Anita was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Joseph and Maria Elena (Silvester) Pensiero; brothers Mario (Tony) and Guido, and nephew Joseph Loranger. She will be sorely missed by her nieces Maria Marinoccio (John) of Colchester and Susan Walling (Dennis) of Lafayette, IN; and her nephews Ronald Pensiero of Hartford and David Pensiero of Brooksville, FL. She also leaves beloved great nieces Heather Loranger (Jay Maffe); Jennifer Albert (Keith) and children Shane and Daniela; Shelby Nadeau (Norm) and children Peyton and Cole; Emily Clearwater (Kory); Jacklyn Walling; and Morgan Pensiero; and great nephews Ryan Shepard and Brandon Pensiero. Anita developed friendships easily throughout her life. She lost many friends and memories to the years, but left permanent memories of fun, laughter, and helpfulness in the lifelong friends she left behind, especially Lois Bizak of Sturbridge, MA, who helped navigate the challenges of the last decade. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Diabetes Association. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury, Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 5-7pm and Friday morning, May 4, 2018 from 9-10am at which time, A Tribute to Life Service honoring Anita will be celebrated.
