The Noonan/DeFrancesco Family

We first met Sister Betty less than 2 years ago when my wife (Maryellen Noonan) was struggling with terminal cancer and was unable to attend mass at the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield. Sister Betty came to our house to bring Holy Communion and after visiting with us for a short while she said to Maryellen “we’re going to be best friends” and she would continue to bring her Communion every Sunday. There are no words to describe how much comfort, spiritual uplifting and friendship Sister Betty brought week after week. As Maryellen’s health declined, she was unable to leave our upstairs bedroom and asked me to call Sister Betty and tell her not to come anymore because she didn’t want Sister to have to climb the stairs. Sister Betty quickly responded by saying “oh please - I go up and down stairs every day in my own house and I’m coming!” Sister Betty attended Maryellen’s funeral in December and insisted on coming to the cemetery on an extremely cold, windy day and sat with us as Father Moran said prayers and gave his final blessing. After that I would continue to see Sister Betty at church right up to Easter Sunday when she gave me a hug and said she knew this was very difficult for me but “her friend Maryellen was looking down on me and would help me through”. Sister Betty was a remarkable person, an angel on earth and my family and I will never forget her. Our prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to the Burns family.
