Obituary for Howard Lyman Page

Howard Lyman Page of Wethersfield, born to Kenneth and Doris Page on June 23, 1927, in Burlington, Vermont passed into the blessed arms of his beloved Lord Jesus on March 21, 2018, to rest eternally with his wife and sweetheart, Charlene.
Howard told Charlene the day he met her he was going to marry her, and he did so two months later! They enjoyed a fantastic 62 years together.
Howard graduated from Burlington High School, Class of 1945, just in time to become a member of the U.S. Army during WWII. He was stationed in South Luzon, Philippines as the war ended, however, he was never exposed to battle. After his discharge from the U.S. Army Howard went on to attend the University of Vermont. When the Korean Campaign broke he returned to the Army. Both trips to work for Uncle Sam resulted in Honorable Discharges, Sgt-1st Class, 33rd Infantry.
Charlene and Howard are survived by three children, daughter Susan and her husband Robert Becker of West Orange, New Jersey, David and his wife Kathy Sullivan of San Francisco, California, and Mitchell and his wife Lynn Dobrowolski Page of Newington, Connecticut. Their grandchildren are Jacob and Mia Becker, and Jonathan, Benjamin, Nathanial and Christopher Page.
Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his older brothers, Richard and Ronald, both of whom served in the U.S. Army Air Force as pilots in WWII.
Howard was employed for 44 years in insurance claims and traveled around the United States as a mediator as his company's representative. Retiring from the Orion Group in Farmington in 1992.
Charlene and Howard found joy in the Lord by being greatly involved in First Church of Christ Congregational for many years with an abiding faith. Both served as Deacons and in other activities such as ushering at the services, serving the food bank, and helping to run the summer bible school for children from Hartford.
The outdoors found Howard a very busy participant until late in his life riding his bike, jogging, and downhill skiing, as well as fishing. Tent camping took up many summers for the Page family.
As a result of his faith, Howard always held the firm belief that if one possessed a gift or talent from God he should share it. In addition to helping others through his church, he was an avid blood donor to the Red Cross resulting in 188 units (23 Gallons) donated, the last one at the age of 88! He also designated himself an organ donor.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 10 am at the First Church of Christ, 250 Main Street in Old Wethersfield. There will be no calling hours. Interment to be conducted at the Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown at a later date. Howard will join Charlene there.
