Mary Lorayne  Chamberland (Golden)
Mary Lorayne (Golden) Chamberland, 95, of Newington, beloved wife of the late Robert J. Chamberland, peacefully passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Hartford Hospital, with her family at her side. Lorayne was born March 19, 1922 and raised in Hartford, daughter of the late Francis and Anne (O’Dell) Golden. She was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy. Prior to her retirement, Lorayne was a secretary at The House of the Good Shepard and later at the Cathedral of St. Joseph School. For many years, Lorayne was an active member of The Cathedral of St. Joseph Parish, and was a member and past President of the Ladies of St. Joseph. Lorayne was very proud of her Irish heritage, which she explored through genealogy and travel to Ireland. She was an avid reader, sports enthusiast and regular participant in Friday night card games with her friends at Cedar Mountain Commons. Through the years, Lorayne enjoyed her grandchildren’s sporting events and doing jigsaw puzzles with her great-grandchildren.
Loryane will be dearly missed and remembered by her loving children, Mary Chamberland and her husband Harold Jaffe, of Georgia, Michael Chamberland and his wife Cynthia, of Massachusetts, Valerie Donovan and her husband Dennis, of Rocky Hill and Susan Anderson and her husband Donald of New Hampshire; her adored grandchildren, Gregory and his wife Meredith Chamberland, Jeffrey Chamberland, Molly Donovan, Timothy Donovan, Maggie Anderson, Caitie Anderson, and Hannah Anderson; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Braeden and Teagan Chamberland. Lorayne was predeceased by her three brothers, Frank Golden Jr., John Golden and William Golden.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family Monday, February 12, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Lorayne’s life will be held Tuesday, February 13,2018 at 10:00 am in The Cathedral of St. Joseph, 140 Farmington Ave., Hartford (all attendees are asked to go directly to church). Burial will follow the Mass in Village Cemetery (Pratt Extension Section), Marsh St., Old Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 3 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492 and the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Hwy, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
