Condolence: I was fortunate enough to have Mr. Hansen as my teacher of American History for both 7th & 8th grades at Silas Deane Jr. High. Not only did I love going to his class, I learned so much that decades later, I wish I could take his classes all over again. (Those outlines!) He was so interested in history, made it come alive, and respected us as individuals -- even us snot-nosed jr. high schoolers. Plus, he was just cool: funny, well-rounded, a caring person. We knew he wanted us to succeed. Also, since he and my dad were good friends and tennis buddies, I got to see him outside of school occasionally, and hear about him over the years. When he and his wonderful wife Janet showed up last year at my dad's memorial service in Vermont, it was the first time I had seen him in decades. I latched onto him, delighted in being able to tell him how much his teaching meant to me, to introduce him to my husband, and to have his wise, loving presence there, a great connection to my dad. Janet, all of his large great family: what a great man. I am so sorry for your loss. What a long, great life legacy. Thank you.

Condolence: My sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. Be assured that the almighty God truly cares for the family! May you find comfort in the promise that "... there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous" (Acts 24:15), and very soon "... no resident will say, 'I am sick'" (Isa. 33:24) because "... death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”(Rev. 21:4) How is this possible? Visit JW. ORG and search for 'Why did Jesus die?'. Then watch the video.

Condolence: Bob ("Mister") Hansen was my Eighth Grade (American) History teacher, and certainly one of my finest teachers at any level. I took tennis lessons at his summer program, played tennis (for "Coach Hansen") at Wethersfield High, and later worked as his assistant in the summer program. That teaching/coaching opportunity opened the door for my coaching that lasted over a twenty-year span. He was one of my most influential and inspirational mentors, as I deliberately adopted several of his teaching and coaching techniques. More important than specific techniques, however, was the personal example he set, every day, whether presenting the basics of tennis to beginners, the key components of the Constitution to eighth graders, or instilling the importance of sportsmanship in his varsity players. A man of whom all his family and friends must be proud!

Condolence: Although 25+ years ago, my memories are vivid of our Sunday morning tennis sessions at Trinity College. Bob was one of the core group who so looked forward to our Sundays to play spirited tennis and to be among friends. Bob was a competitor but would never mope after a loss and was never one to celebrate outlandishly in a win. But he reveled in a well played match. Playing along side of him you knew he always expected himself to play at his best and expected you to do the same! Thank you, Bob, for those special memories! -Kirk Peters
