Obituary for Bertha Henderson (Nadeau)

Bertha Henderson (Nadeau)
Bertha (Nadeau) Henderson, 94, of Glastonbury, loving wife of the late Albert Henderson, peacefully passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Hartford Hospital. Bertha was born August 5, 1923 and raised in Orono, ME, one of eleven children of Ernest and Lillian (St. Peter) Nadeau. She and Albert moved to Hartford in 1950 where they started their family, then relocated to East Hartford and ultimately Glastonbury. Prior to her retirement, Bertha was employed for many years with King’s Department Store. She was a member of the AFL-CIO, an auxiliary member of the DAV, as well as a faithful communicant of St. Paul Church in Glastonbury. She never held back what was on her mind, and age meant nothing to her. She was very tech savvy, communicating via Facebook as well as texting. Most of all, Bertha was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family, her son, Stephen Henderson in Tennessee; three daughters with their spouses, Donna Trebert (Joel), of Harwinton, Wanda Blanchette (Richard), of Ohio and Linda Sward (John), of Higganum: a brother, Lawrence “Johnny” Nadeau of Orono, ME; two sisters, Pauline Butler of Orono, ME and Bernice Moreau of New Hampshire; ten adored grandchildren, Linda, Shawna, Justin, Jaimie, Stesha, Joey, Krissie, John, Randi and Kayla; Eleven cherished great grandchildren, Dominic, Cameron, Kyle, Caden, Darek, Charlie, Carter, Arya, Troy, Dalin and Gunner. In addition to her husband and parents, Bertha was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Henderson, seven siblings, Elsie, Norman, Clarence, Albert, Mamie, Freeman and Leslie; her daughter-in-law, Phyllis’s; two grandsons, Stevie and Joshua; and a great granddaughter, Kaycee. Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 8:30-9:30am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave. Glastonbury. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Bertha’s life will be held at 10am in St. Augustine Church 55 Hopewell Rd. South Glastonbury. Interment will follow Mass in Hillside Cemetery (Veterans Sec. 1) Hillside St. East Hartford. To extend online condolences, share a memory and/or light a memorial candle, please visit
