Obituary for Karen S. Lemaire (Stewart)

Karen (Stewart) Lemaire, 51, lifelong resident of Wethersfield, beloved wife of Mark S. Lemaire, peacefully passed away early Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Hartford Hospital. Karen was born April 28, 1966 in Hartford, one of two daughters to Virginia (Larson) Stewart of Wethersfield and the late Gerard K. Stewart. She attended Wethersfield schools, graduating from Wethersfield High, Class of 1984. Karen continued her education at the University of Vermont, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education Cum Laude. She was employed for many years by the State of Connecticut at Connecticut Valley Hospital as a Rehabilitation Counselor. She was an active member of Wethersfield United Methodist Church. Karen had a general love of music which included playing the bass guitar in the church Praise Band and alto saxophone for the “Just for Fun” Saxophone Group. She also loved the freedom and thrill of riding her motorcycle. Karen was most passionate about family, she was a very active and involved mother, attending PTA meetings, sporting events, concerts and recitals, anything to support her children. Along with her husband Mark and her mother Virginia, Karen will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her two wonderful children, Samuel and Abigail Lemaire, both of Wethersfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and James Karsmarski of Rocky Hill; an uncle, Royal Larson of Whidbey Island, WA; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lois and Michael Lemaire of Stowe, VT; a brother-in-law, Michael Lemaire and his husband Joseph Delgado, of Oakland, CA; a sister-in-law, Corinne Lemaire with her partner Kristopher Lewia, and their son Knox of Rutland, VT; her grandmother-in-law, Evelyn Lemaire in FL; as well as many cousins and dear friends. Karen had a love for animals and she will be deeply missed by her dog Chingo. There are no calling hours. A Service of Remembrance celebrating Karen’s life will be held Monday, August 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Wethersfield United Methodist Church, 150 Prospect St. Wethersfield (at the entrance of Mill Woods Park) with Pastor Albert Hahn officiating. Attendees are asked to go directly to the Church. Inurnment will follow the service in Village Cemetery, Marsh St. Old Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, the Lemaire family requests that memorial donations be made in Karen’s name to The Walden Center for Education and Research.
