Obituary for Rita St. Amant (Chamberland)

Rita St. Amant (Chamberland)
Rita (Chamberland) St. Amant, 95, of East Hartford, formerly of Glastonbury, loving wife of the late Pierre P. St. Amant passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Marlborough Health Center. Rita was born June 13, 1921 and raised in St. Agatha, Maine, daughter to the late Belone and Marie(Marquis) Chamberland, Jr. She was a very hard worker who was very organized and stuck to the schedule she had set for herself. In addition to having the most important job of being a mother and wife, Rita spent much of day in her sewing room doing repairs and creating quilts some of which she gave away as gifts and donations and some she would sell. She enjoyed a very active social life which included many activities such as playing cards, attending bingo at St. Paul’s Church and the Elks Club, and most of all she loved the annual trips to Maine to see her sisters. Rita will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family, a son Robert R. St. Amant of Glastonbury; a daughter Jeannine St. Amant of East Hartford; two sisters, Rena Lizzotte and Therese Chasse, both in Maine; her adored grandchildren, Melissa St. Amant and Melinda St. Amant, Jesse and his wife Alexandra (Kuzio)Wilson; in addition to two cherished great grandchildren, Emaline and Amelia. She also leaves her sisters – in- law, Bert, Lorraine, Rena and Germaine Chamberland, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, especially Gary Chamberland, who was a big help with her care. Along with her husband and parents, Rita was predeceased by her son Richard St. Amant, seven brothers, Armand, Conrad, Roland, Warren, Louis, Roger and Abel Chamberland and four sisters, Annie Albert, Lucina Plourde, Matilda Oulette and Maria-Theresa Chamberland. Rita’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Marlborough Health and Rehab Center. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 5-8pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury. The funeral procession will form at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Friday, June 16, 2017 at 9:15am, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury.
