Carmen (Melendez) Maisonet, 90 of East Hartford, CT., passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family and friends on March 29, 2017 at the Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center. Carmen was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico and came to Hartford in 1963 with her predeceased loving husband of 51 years Candelario Maisonet. Together with her husband, she raised in a loving blended family, 13 children, Tita Ortiz, Amparo Soler, Juanita Soler, Alejandro Soler, Merida Febo, Jose Soler, Maria Soler-Haskins, Madaliz Baez, Maria Maisonet, Maria L. Maisonet, Alexandrina Maisonet, Jose Maisonet and Zoraida Maisonet. She was a loving, devoted and caring grandmother who provided child care services to most of her 37 grandchildren at some point in their life. Carmen was the great-grandmother and great-great grandmother to many. She is also survived by 4 sisters and 2 brothers who reside in Puerto Rico and 7 sons and daughters-in-law who loved and treasured her dearly as well as she loved and treasured them also. She was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed watching and cheering her daughters, sons, grandsons and friends baseball/softball teams. Carmen loved music and Latin dancing and most of all singing was her passion. The family will receive friends on Sunday April 2, 2017 from 3pm to 6 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, CT. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday April 3, 2017 at 10am in the Church of St. Anne/Immaculate Conception, 820 Park St. Hartford, CT. Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT. The family wishes to acknowledge the caring and loving care extended to Carmen for the 4 years she resided at the riverside Nursing and Rehab. Center.
