Obituary for Ann Kenny (O'Donnell)

Ann O’Donnell Kenny, 82, of Rocky Hill, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away after a long illness. Ann was born in Quincy, Ma, the oldest daughter of the late Johanna and Lawrence O’ Donnell, where she grew up and later attended Regis College. Ann moved to Rocky Hill in 1959 with her late husband, James Kenny of 55 years, where she resided until her passing.
Ann was a dedicated educator at Rocky Hill High School where she taught English for 25 years. She also taught collegiate level classes at Wesleyan University and Manchester Community College. Ann was very active in the Rocky Hill teachers association, serving as a negotiator and president. Ann’s love of learning led her to pursue advanced degrees from the University of Hartford and the University of Connecticut. Ann took great pleasure in hearing from, and about her past students and their success in school and in life. She was an avid reader and lover of literature and poetry. She loved to cook and entertain with family and friends.
Ann will be greatly missed by her children, son James and his wife Theresa Kenny of South Windsor, daughter Kathleen Kenny of Warwick, RI, and son Daniel and his wife Joyce Kenny of Charlotte, NC. Ann’s grandchildren, Alexandra, Jacqueline, Jamie, Daniel and Jackson, all of whom she adored, will cherish their special memories with their Nana. Ann was predeceased by her brother, Robert O’Donnell of Quincy Ma and her sister Ruth Salters of Weymouth Ma.
