Obituary for James Joseph "Jim" Marcelynas

James Joseph "Jim" Marcelynas
James Joseph “Jim” Marcelynas, 40, of Wethersfield, beloved husband to Elda (Minoia) Marcelynas, was tragically taken from his family Thursday, March 2, 2017. Jim was born March 27, 1976 in Waterbury and raised in the Waterbury area. He was a graduate of Holy Cross High School, Waterbury, Class of 1994, then went on to earn his BSN degree from Western Connecticut State University, Class of 1998. He continued his education, earning a Master’s degree in Science / Anesthesia from Central Connecticut State University in conjunction with New Britain Anesthesia. From an early age, Jim had an inherent drive to help people, which lead him into the field of emergency medical service. Jim became a certified EMT, joining the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance, as well as Campion Ambulance. He continued his certifications and became a Paramedic and then went on to become a Registered Nurse. This landed Jim his dream job, that of being a Life Star Flight Nurse, where he faithfully served for over ten years, two of which he served as Chief Flight Nurse. Jim turned in his wings to work to become a full time CRNA (Nurse Anesthetist) for Anesthesia Associates of Willimantic, as well as working per diem for Woodland Anesthesia at St. Francis Hospital and Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was a member of the AANA (American Association of Nurse Anesthesia) and CANA (CT Association of Nurse Anesthetist). Jim not only enjoyed his work, but always found time for his passions, his love of travelling to the beach at Charlestown, RI, visiting Disney World and while on vacation, he would be planning the next family vacation; listening to the music of the Dave Matthews Band, Skiing, being an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and family woodworking. Jim’s most enjoyable passion which he loved was that of spending time with his wife, children and family. Jim will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his loving family; the loves of his life, his wife Elda (Minoia) Marcelynas; their two adored children, Giulia Ann Marcelynas and James Arthur Marcelynas all of Wethersfield; his mother Karen (Violante) Marcelynas of Wolcott, his father and stepmother, Arthur Raymond Sr. and Barbara Marcelynas of Waterbury; three brothers, Stephen Marcelynas (wife Jan) , Michael Marcelynas (fiancé Kami) all of Wolcott, Arthur Raymond Marcelynas Jr.(wife Amanda) of Salem; a sister, Therese Adele Marcelynas (partner Jason) of Waterbury; maternal grandmother, Shirley Ann Violante of Waterbury; mother and father in law, Leo and Frances Minoia of Wethersfield; sister in law Angela LaBianca (husband Michael) of Wethersfield; as well as his large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends and colleagues. Jim also leaves his best friend Michael Sahjian. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Marcelynas family Monday, March 6, 2017 from 5-8pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Jim’s life will be held Tuesday, March 7th at 11am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield (attendees are asked to go directly to church). Interment will follow the Mass in Village Cemetery, Marsh St. Old Wethersfield. In memory of Jim’s passion for helping others, the family requests in lieu of flowers and that memorial donations are suggested to the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance 48 Todd Rd, Wolcott, CT 06716, or Hartford Hospital’s Life Star Program, 80 Seymour St., Hartford, CT 06102.
