Obituary for Janet McMahon

Janet McMahon, 58, of Tolland, passed away March 2, 2017 in the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain. She was born on June 8, 1958, daughter of the late Robert and Natalie (DeMauro) McMahon. Prior to her retirement, Janet was a Disaster Recovery Specialist, first at Travelers Insurance Co. and later at C.S.C. She was a Past Exalted Ruler of the B.P.O.E Lodge #19, Hartford and was proud of being the first woman exalted ruler of the Hartford Lodge. Janet loved a good horse race and never saw a bingo card she didn’t like. She enjoyed going to the casinos with her friends for the shows and bingo. Janet’s favorite places to visit were Saratoga and Newport. She leaves two brothers Paul Caponigro and Thomas Caponigro, a sister Deborah McMahon Cleveland and a niece and nephew, Allesandra and Zachary Caponigro. Also special thoughts and prayers to the entire Maloney family for all the support and love you have expressed throughout the years, Jan was proud to be part of your family. Lastly, to all her “brother”Elks, we should all strive to emulate her passion and drive. Thanks to you for all the memories. Besides her parents, Janet was predeceased by the love of her life, Stephen Maloney. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday March 8, 2017 at 10:00 am at Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Friends may call on Tuesday March 7, 2017 from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
