Obituary for Julius Stanley Wisnewski

Julius Stanley Wisniewski, 90 of Glastonbury, peacefully passed away Friday January 27, 2017 in St. Francis Hospital. Julius was born in Dickson City, PA., on June 1, 1926 to the late John and Mary (Kijewski) Wisniewski. He spent his early childhood years in an orphanage in Dickson City and moved to Brooklyn, NY as a teenager with many of his siblings. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then settled in Connecticut. Julius was a member of the Hartford Fire Department for several years before beginning his 35 year career at Pratt & Whitney, until retirement. Known as Stanley, or Ski, by his friends, and Uncle “J” by his immediate family, he and his best friend, Felix DeRosa were members of the Rockville Fish & Game Club for many years. He always looked forward to spending time with his family and enjoying a good meal. Julius was pre-deceased by his infant son Joseph and his siblings; Stella, Lottie, Helen, Irene, Stanley, John and Frank. He is survived by his former wife and best friend, Cathy Laskowski of Rocky Hill, and many nieces and nephews, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. As Julius had a great fondness for cats, memorial donations are suggested in his name to the Protector of Animals Rescue & Shelter, 144 Main St, East Hartford, CT 06118. Friends may call on the family, Saturday February 4, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, CT. A Memorial Service celebrating Julius’s life will commence at 10:30am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery (Section L), 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield.
