Obituary for Martin Peter Winiarski

Martin Peter Winiarski
Martin Peter Winiarski, thoughtful son, loving brother and devoted father died unexpectedly on Thursday January 5, 2017 in Colchester, CT. He grew up in Hartford on Alden Street with his parents and eight siblings. He was a graduate of Bulkeley High School 1982. He worked at Foxwoods Casino as a blackjack dealer and then became a painter by trade. He was an excellent handyman especially with carpentry and home remodeling. He took pride in his work and always kept a smile on his face. His father taught him handicapping the horses and he was a lifelong horse racing enthusiast and in his younger years he trained for a brief time to become a jockey. He spent many of his summers visiting Lake George, NY and Saratoga Race Track with his dad, uncle and brothers. He passed on his love of Lake George to his children along with his cooking skills, especially his homemade pizza. Family oriented and loyal to his core, as a single father he always made sure his children's needs were met. Always the comedian, he had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh especially his family and friends. He loved having his nighttime meals in front of the TV watching his favorite westerns - Gunsmoke, Bonanza and The Rifle Man. A truly selfless man whose morals and values were filled with love and good intentions. Life was certainly challenging for him but he knew how to persevere and never gave up. He was the proud father of his twins Julie and Martin Winiarski and they were his world. He was predeceased by both parents Mary and Henry Winiarski and his stepson Joseph LeBel. He leaves behind his children, the loves of his life Julie Denise Winiarski of Fort Drum, NY and Martin Peter Winiarski, Jr. of Wethersfield, CT, and stepchildren Thomas, Michael and Mary Piazza. He also leaves behinds his three sisters Eva O'Brien, Kathy and Juliane Winiarski and his five brothers Henry, John, Stephen, Paul and Matthew Winiarski along with many nieces and nephews and three great nieces. A special thanks to his best friend and roommate Zach for his support and friendship through the years.
