Obituary for Patricia R. "Robbie" Poole

Patricia R. "Robbie" Poole
Patricia “Robbie” (Roberts) Poole, 73, of Wethersfield, loving mother, wife, and ardent friend, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Gaylord Hospital. She was born on May 7, 1943 in Brighton, England and brought her spark and spirit with her to the U.S. at 18. She was a visible fixture of the Wethersfield community, as a bakery clerk and cashier for many years at Stop & Shop, where her regular customers visited with her to get a dose of English charm. While at the Corner Store in Wethersfield, she enjoyed the visits of the children and their friends after school. She was a nanny when she first arrived in the States. Robbie was a member of the Irish American Home Society, where she loved to play darts. She enjoyed knitting, especially for babies and grandbabies of her own and her friends. Her true calling however, was her ability to bring people together. Along with her late husband, Ronald Arthur Poole (d. 2001), Robbie held the doors of her home wide open to neighbors, friends, and even strangers to gather.. Robbie hosted many festive parties and among her children’s friends became known as Ma Poole.
Robbie was preceded in death by her first husband Vincent J. Villa (d. 1969), members of her foster family in England, especially Nan who raised her and Margaret, her foster sister. She will be missed by her children, Jason O.Villa and his wife Tammy, of Windsor, Stacy A.H. Villa of Wethersfield, and Dennis Poole and his wife Priya, of Providence, RI. She also leaves four grandchildren, Emily Bearse, Daniel Villa, Andrew Villa and Asha Poole.
A gathering to celebrate Robbie’s life will be held Friday December 16, from 5-7 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Alliance of Foster & Adoptive Families (cafafct.org) 2189 Silas Deane Hwy, Suite 2, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
