Beverly “Bev” (Chapman) Dillon, beloved wife of the late Edward F. Dillon, peacefully passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Hartford Hospital. Bev was one of fourteen children born to the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Williams) Chapman. After graduating from Wethersfield High School, she took a correspondence course at Norman Rockwell School of Art while working full time as a secretary at Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. Bev went on to work as an Executive Secretary at Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. in the Advertising Department for several years. Before retiring in 1994, she was employed part time as a legal secretary at the law firm of Gould, Killian and Wynne, while raising her children. She went on to work as a secretary at Hart Re, a division of The Hartford, and was promoted to Executive Secretary before she retired. During their retirement, Bev and Ed traveled extensively to most of the U.S. states and Europe. They also bought a beautiful condo in Daytona Beach, FL, where they lived for about 2 years. Bev leaves four wonderful sons who she loved dearly, Edward Jr. “Ted”, Thomas and his wife Karen, Timothy and his wife Lynn and Shawn and his wife Nicole. They all graduated from Wethersfield High School where Ted, Tom and Tim were captains of the Varsity Football Team and also played baseball. Shawn was captain of the Varsity Baseball Team and also played Varsity Football. In addition, Bev also leaves her five wonderful grandchildren who she loved so much, Brandon, Stephanie, Patrick and his wife Tina, Alexis and Louie; her first great granddaughter, Eden; as well as her brothers-in-law Tony Varricchio of Cromwell, William Dillon and his wife Cathy, of Harwich, MA and Edward Peete of Maine; sisters-in-law, Peg Chapman of Colchester and Norma Chapman of Franklin, NC; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by all thirteen of her brothers and sisters. Bev’s family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 4-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Bev’s life will be held Monday, August 29th at 10am in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield (all attendees are asked to go directly to the church).
