Obituary for Richard Peter "Pete" Harvey

Richard Peter Harvey, a forty-two year resident of Glastonbury, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016. He was born in New York City on October 3, 1932, the son of Stanley E. and Bessie (McNeely) Harvey and grew up in Bradley Beach, NJ. Pete was a graduate of Asbury Park High School and Brown University and served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve before beginning a career in the insurance industry. He was the recipient of the St. Joseph Medal, awarded by the Archdiocese of Hartford for special service to one’s parish. Pete is survived by his wife, Sheila (Monaghan) Harvey; six children, Peter C. Harvey of Orange, CT, Anne M. Harvey of Philadelphia, PA, Kathleen H. Alexander of Wake Forest, NC, John S. Harvey of Dennisport, MA, Michael T. Harvey of Largo, FL and Sheila H. Armstrong of Milton, MA; six grandchildren, Conor, Brenna, Kiley, Aidan, Emmaline and Liam. He was predeceased by his sister, Catherine A. Harvey of Bradley Beach, NJ. Family and friends may call on the Harvey family Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 10:30-11:30am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12pm in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Interment will follow the Mass in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hebron Ave. at Wickham Rd. Glastonbury.
