Ronald “Ron” Arthur Jones, 58, husband of Laura Mirmino-Jones, passed away May 28, 2015 in Hartford Hospital with his wife Laura and sisters Denise and Ann by his side. He was born in Hartford and lived in the area all of his life, most recently in Cromwell. Ron was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of ’74, where he was voted Best Personality, Best Sense of Humor and Most Good Natured. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor and exhibited it right to end. He went on to Marietta College (class of ’78) and was a member of Tau Epsilon Phi. Ron went on to work at various insurance companies, presently at Cigna, where he was a Proposal Writer. He was an avid Red Sox and Dallas Cowboy fan and also was a former member of the Traveler’s Bowling League. He was a very generous person and volunteered at the Traveler’s Championship Golf Tournament every year and also at Adelbrook-The Children’s Home in Cromwell’s annual Taste of Cromwell fundraiser. Besides his wife, he leaves his mother Kathleen “Kay” S. Reese, two brothers, Richard “Rick” Jones and his wife Mariann of Windsor Locks, Gordon Jones and his wife Terri of Brooksville, FL, three sisters, Denise M. Jones and her husband Silvio Sciarra of Wethersfield, Kathie Jones of Wethersfield and Ann M. Jones and her husband Victor Delgado of Unionville, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a special niece and nephew, Ana Delgado and Kevin Sciarra. Ron was predeceased by his step father William Reese. The family would like to extend sincere appreciation for the wonderful staff and care that Ron received at Hartford Hospital, especially the palliative and hospice teams. The Private services will be held at a later date. The Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home Wethersfield has care of the arrangements. To extend online condolences, please visit farleysullivan.com. Ron made the following requests; “Pay it forward for a Veteran. When dining and you see or meet a Veteran, thank them for their service and pay for their meal. “A Korean War Veteran once thanked Ron, with tears in his eyes, but Ron said “No, thank you. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you.” He also loved the “Hole in the Wall Gang” charity; He volunteered at the Traveler’s Championship because of the Hole in the Wall Gang and his many years working for Travelers. Donations in his name may be sent to Hole in the Wall Camp, 555 Long Wharf Dr. New Haven CT 06511. Finally, the Helen and Harry Grey Cancer Center c/o Hartford Hospital Attn: Fund Development Dept. 80 Seymour St, PO 5037 Hartford, CT 06102-5037.
